Challenge Shoot information for air pistol shooters       home.gif (3937 bytes)

Air pistols have the same 2 categories as the rifles, they are Novice and Marksman.

Targets:
There are two sets of targets for both Novice and Marksman categories, in both color and black & white. The colors are the same as the current rifle Challenge targets. Scoring is based on the color targets.

The B&W targets are optional -  for those who don't print and shoot color targets or who photo copy your targets. The B&W targets have a standard black 60mm sighting ring, and have been designed for use with iron sights.  Scoring is based on the color target.

Target specifications (for Pellant target program): columns are: ring#, diameter (mm), fill-color, fill-B&W, description

AP Novice target:
Ring#   Dia       Color        B&W       Description
10         36       black        gray          score ring
9         60       white        black         ring separator & sighting ring
  8         92       orange      white         no-score ring

AP Marksman target:
Ring#   Dia      Color       B&W       Description
10         20       black      black       score ring
9         24         white      white        ring separator
  8         44       orange    gray         no-score ring
7         60         black      black       sighting ring

Downloadable PDF target files (only B&W are available at this time):       AP Novice          AP Marksman

All the AP targets have a standard 60mm "sighting ring."  This ring is about the same diameter as the black bull on the standard NRA/ISSF 10m AP target, which is 59.5mm.  On the color novice target this is the white ring.  On all other targets, it is a black ring. The "black & white" targets were designed to be shot as a standard 10m AP target.  The sighting ring has not been compromised.

Scoring is done as follows:
#1,  +1 Score:          A hit or touch on the center black score ring.
#2,   0 No-Score:     A hit or touch on the orange or white no-score rings.
#3,  -1 Deduction:    Anything outside the orange no-score ring.

On the optional Air Pistol "black & white" targets, the rings are scored the same as the corresponding rings on the color target.

Number of shots for a match:
Novice:        40 shots
Marksman:   60 shots standard, 40 shots optional
Score and ranking is on total points.
So a 40/40 will score and rank less than a 41/60.
Please enter the total number of shots in the comments section.

Posting scores:
As the AP shoot is piggybacking on the current Rifle Challenge shoot, there are a few specifics for the air pistol shooters.

To indicate you are shooting an air pistol:
1) In the name field after you type you name, type "pistol" - for example:  GaryN (pistol)
2) In the "gun" field; enter "AP" then for the Marksman the number of shots 60 or 40 (Novice is always 40 shots so does not have to be specified), then your gun, then if you use a 2-hand hold (no need to indicate 1-hand)

   examples:
     - novice = AP-P3,  AP-Hurricane-2hand
     - marksman = AP60-IZH46,  AP40-Walther CPM1,  AP60-P3-2hand

In the "score" field for marksman, you must enter your score as xx/90.  The program will not accept xx/60 or xx/40.

In the "explanation" field, you will enter the actual score/shots fired.  And anything else you want to enter, such as hits and
deductions.

   example:  AP60  15/60  +25 -10  blah...blah...

Remember, this is a weekly match.
